Gustav Klimt: Why some say ‘The Kiss’ is better than the ‘Mona Lisa’ – CSMonitor.com. – 2012 July 14
I had the opportunity to see ‘The Kiss’ and other Klimt paintings and murals this April in Vienna, and then the Klimt paintings in the Neue Gallerie in NYC on the way home in NYC. I actually preferred his work done late in his career to ‘The Kiss’ – not to in any way denigrate ‘The Kiss’. I agree with Chris Gaylord that ‘The Kiss’ is a painting much better experienced in person – much more so than the ‘Mona Lisa’. I’m not crazy about the Google doodle replacing the lover’s background – but at least it further publicizes Klimt’s work.
